The Supply Planner is responsible for managing and executing all processes related to supply planning and purchase order management. This role ensures accurate and efficient planning by integrating business intelligence, sales and marketing forecasts, operational inputs, and replenishment data. The Supply Planner plays a critical role in maintaining inventory health, driving cross-functional collaboration, and supporting production strategies that align with business goals.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain supply planning models incorporating forecasts, sell-through data, and cross-functional inputs
- Balance supply chain constraints with demand priorities and inventory targets
- Manage purchase orders in alignment with the inventory plan and adjust for demand/supply shifts
- Participate in line reviews, SKU rationalization, and lifecycle transition planning
- Analyze sales forecast inaccuracies and adjust supply plans accordingly
- Conduct regular supply reviews, identifying global constraints and developing mitigation plans
- Track and report on key supply chain metrics, including inventory levels and inventory turns
- Maintain systems and planning processes, ensuring accurate product and delivery data
- Advise on inventory strategies for new launches, discontinuations, and ongoing products
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to optimize inventory allocation and ATS (Available to Ship) programs
- Support SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) processes with data, commentary, and presentations
- Conduct monthly demand/supply analytics and adjust plans for performance improvement
- Participate in process improvements and special projects, including system implementations
- Monitor factory lead times and ensure timely system updates for accurate planning
- Collaborate on service level improvements and reduce excess/obsolete inventory
- Drive KPI improvement initiatives and bandwidth utilization across departments
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of supply chain fundamentals, including demand and inventory planning, logistics, and distribution
- Advanced analytical skills; ability to detect patterns and understand underlying drivers
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Flexible and adaptable with strong time management skills
- Eagerness to learn new systems and support others in their learning
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions); Power BI or similar data tools a plus
- Excellent communication skills—able to deliver impactful messages and clear updates
- Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and a growth mindset
- Action-oriented and confident contributing in cross-functional meetings
- Experience in the consumer goods or apparel industry is highly preferred
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree
OR
- 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree
- Experience in consumer goods, retail, or apparel industry preferred
Compensation:
$75,000-$90,000 annual salary. Kindthread encourages applications from candidates at all levels. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
